- Complete your Police checks before the application as this can take up to three weeks.
- Book your medical asap. Don't listen to them when they say 'you can can an appointment next day.'
- Gather evidence if you're doing a 309 partner visa. Make sure this at least covers every three months you've been together. Otherwise you're going to get the embassy requesting more info constantly.
- The best evidence is official documents. I.E. council tax, banks statements, mortgage statements. They do not seem to take account of less formal evidence, such as photos etc...
- The Australian embassy doesn't accept documents certified by civil servants. Here is a good link http://www.uk.embassy.gov.au/lhlh/certification.html
- The visa only lasts 12 months from the time you have your medical or police check. Whichever comes first.
A blog about our upcoming move to Australia from the UK. Who knows what's going to happen. I have no idea what-so-ever! So sit tight and let the madness unfold.
